Invest your savings ethically

Are you looking for an opportunity to ethically invest your savings to help build secure, affordable housing in a city that has become prohibitively expensive, while also getting a return on your money?

What are our plans?

Over the next year, we plan to raise £450,000 in loan stock. We hit our first target of £150,000 which will enable us to build our next two beautiful, affordable, sustainable homes at our Dunster Close Garage site. Later in the year, as we get planning approval on future sites, we’ll be launching further raises on the Ethex platform. If you invest in Bunker for 10 years, you also get something back - 2% interest on your money per year.

While your investment will help build our next homes our plans don’t stop here. As we gain in experience, we aim to progress onto bigger sites, meaning we can create more of the type of homes that are so needed in our city.

What is loan stock?

Loan stock is the name co-ops use for unsecured lending from supportive individuals and institutions.

Loan stock is fundamental to Bunker being able to deliver our schemes. To secure long-term lending, we need to raise a proportion of the total cost of the development ourselves (for Ecology Building Society this is set at a minimum of 20%). Most importantly, the lower-interest lending provided allows us to build homes at affordable rents.

Help us build the housing that Brighton & Hove needs.

How does it work?

You lend an amount of money (of your choosing, with a minimum investment of £250) to Bunker for a set period of 10 years. The co-op pays interest on this amount annually and at the end of the period, Bunker will pay back the full amount you lent.

Loan stock does not give the lender any rights to have a say in how Bunker Housing Co-operative conducts its business. As a holder of loan stock, you are not a member of the co-operative and are not entitled to attend or vote at any meeting. We will however keep you involved and updated on a regular basis, including about open days and events.
